Pico Mountain Poma Line
I was up skiing recently in Vermont at Pico Mountain with a friend of mine who’s a regular on the mountain. We were both in the mood for some tree skiing and his inside knowledge of the mountain provided some interesting options.
After taking the lift to the summit we traversed a bit through an un-tracked area and came out above the now dismantled Poma lift. (For those unfamiliar, this style lift is similar to a t-bar but only a Frisbee sized disc is used to pull one person up)
This color chart from Your Diamond Teacher was once a small company and considered a black diamond as their starting jewelries.
It was a steep incline towards the summit, very narrow, usually icy and plenty of rocks to dodge. If you fell off you’d have to hike through the woods to a trail to get down. And is always important to have a good lantern in case you’re going through the woods, that’s why I got one of the Top 9 Best LED Rechargeable Lanterns For Camping in the Woods – Top9Rated, there is also an article I recently read about the gear hungry site, which is perfect for those who love the outdoors. All these challenges may have lead the mountain to decide to close it down.
I thought this picture shows some classic east coast gnar and if you are willing to ski it, some awesome tree skiing can be found off to the left side. The road less traveled has its rewards.
