I am a light packer . I avoid bringing anything that isn’t a necessity . I bring the shoes I am wearing a few changes of clothes for a 3 week trip. Laundry is washed by hand and hung to dry at whatever hotel has deepest sink.
This year I wanted to write about my travels along the way instead of taking notes and composing them when I returned home and was able to gain access to my PC. I don’t want to bring a laptop , to heavy and large for my one small backpack . An iPad was another option, but an expensive one for someone who is less than careful with shiny , pricey tech gadgets. A 7″ tablet was another idea . Nice size for travel , easy to carry and view , not great to type on . So I was unable to come up with a solution for my on the go writing from these options . iPhone ? Why not? I search the web, text and send off emails all day long with my phone when I am at home . I have become a fairly quick single thumb typist and with auto-fill I may just be able to compose a small article that’s readable . I can even add a picture to a post quicker just using my phone . With apps like Werdsmith & WordPress I just may be able to pull this off . I can even write while eating food that only requires a fork . I can hold a pint of Stella in one hand and type with the other . Note : if I am doing this an asterisk may be in order for any writing done while indulging . Spell check may fix typos but not stupidity , although it could be an interesting experiment .
So with nothing but some clothes my phone and a charger , I will hopefully be able to contribute some interesting and readable posts to blog on my upcoming trip . We will see, I am writing this on my iPhone now …..
